Love can be as terrifying as it is exciting, but the fear of love shouldn’t keep you from feeling it. No matter how badly you were hurt the first time, or the second, your broken heart will begin to heal when you find the courage to love again. And you will love again, because even if you don’t want to, even if you tell yourself love is hopeless, or temporary, or just an emotion people believe in to simply survive, one day you’ll find a person who will make you realize it’s real.
That love, even if it’s not ne who makes you hopeful instead of fearful. Someone who holds your hand like they never want to let it go. Someone whose touch makes you feel trust. Someone whose presence makes you feel comfort. Someone who gives you hope that love can be authentic, because they make you feel a love that is.
Find someone who shares their life, rather than rearranges it to make you fit. Someone who has a place for you, not someone who makes a place for you. Someone who doesn’t need to make you feel like you belong because you know that you do.
Find someone who loves you for every right reason. Someone who can’t stand to see you sad. Someone who enjoys your happiness, someone who wants the best for you as much as they want it for themselves.
Find someone who makes you feel lucky. Lucky that they chose and continue to choose you. Find someone who feels as lucky to be with you as you feel to be with them.
Find someone who appreciates your success, someone who makes you want success. Not to competitively be better than they are, but because you want to be the best version of yourself when you’re with them.
Find someone who challenges you. Someone who won’t always agree with your thoughts or your opinions, but will hear them, listen to them, and react with honesty. And not always honesty that is kind, but honesty that you’ll appreciate because it comes from a place of love, not envy.
Find someone who makes you a little less terrified of love. Someone who makes the excitement of love overcome the fear of it.
